What can you post on LocalKid?

LocalKid is designed for simple neighborhood tasks, including:

Yard clean-up, raking, weeding, watering, light snow shoveling, and seasonal chores.

Pet care support

Dog walking, feeding pets, vacation check-ins, and basic pet care support.

Household help

Garage shelf organizing, light errands, plant watering, taking bins to the curb, and similar small tasks.

Family support

Tutoring, homework help, babysitting support, and parent-helper tasks.

Basic tech help

Simple device setup, phone help, app support, and basic tech help for seniors.

Some tasks may require parent/guardian approval, age-based eligibility, or additional LocalKid review.

How it works

Step 1: Register as a homeowner or tenant

Tell us who you are, where the task will happen, and what kind of help you need.



Step 2: Complete the background-check process

Before any task request can move forward, homeowners and tenants must complete the required background-check process. This helps parents and guardians feel more confident allowing their teen to participate.

 

Step 3: Post your task & match with nearby teens

Once approved, you can share the task, timing, location, and proposed payment. 

Eligible local teens and their parent or legal guardian can review available tasks. Once there is interest, you can select the worker who is the right fit.

Step 4: Confirm, complete, and pay through the platform

 LocalKid helps structure the experience from task details to payment, so homeowners, teens, and families have a clearer record of what was agreed to.

 Yes. Homeowner and tenant registration is required before a task can be posted or shared through LocalKid. 

Why do homeowners and tenants need a background check?

Because LocalKid includes teen participation. The background-check process helps create a safer, more trusted environment for teens, parents, guardians, and homeowners or tenants.

Can tenants use LocalKid?

 Yes. Eligible tenants may register for the pilot, subject to location, task type, onboarding status, and safety requirements. .

What kinds of tasks are allowed?

LocalKid focuses on simple, age-appropriate neighborhood jobs like yardwork, dog walking, plant watering, tutoring, light errands, snow shoveling, babysitting support, and household help. 

Are parents or guardians involved?

Yes. Parents or legal guardians are part of the onboarding and approval process for teens under 18. 

Do teens pay to participate?

No. Teens are not charged fees to participate in LocalKid.

Can I choose who completes my task?

Once your task is shared with eligible local teens and there is interest, you can review fit and select the worker who is right for the job. 

Is LocalKid available everywhere?

LocalKid is currently launching through a structured local pilot. Availability may be limited by neighborhood, onboarding capacity, and safety requirements.
